We’re excited to announce that our 2019 course has been certified! #PA18032NP
Registration opens on Saturday December 1st. Take some time to review this site to get familiar with the 2019 course before registering.
New Race Director
Bob Werts has stepped down as Run for the Red Race Director. His 13 years of leadership saw the event grow into the one of the premier fundraisers for the American Red Cross of the Pocono Mountains. Run for the Red committee member Zack Booth has assumed the vacant role. Bob will remain on the committee as a law enforcement liaison and will continue to coordinate attendance and competition between military service academy teams in the Marathon and Half Marathon. Zack has served on the committee for over a decade and is looking forward to tackling the planning challenges the 2019 races bring.
Marathon & Half Marathon Course
A PennDot bridge replacement project along the course will close a portion of the route to runners and vehicles in 2019. The detour around the closure adds too much distance to the route so a new course is necessary. The Run for the Red committee considered nearly a dozen alternate routes before identifying a good Marathon and Half Marathon course route to use in 2019. It will not be the 2013 course from Pocono Raceway to Stroudsburg. More information will follow and the new course route will be announced before registration opens on November 1st 2018. The race will return to the classic Pocono Summit to Stroudsburg course in 2020 if the route is open.
