Vehicle Traffic on the Course
Runner safety is our number one concern. However, the majority of the course runs on public roads. The major intersections are manned. Most minor intersections are manned. Most of the course cannot be fully closed and runners must run at their own risk.
Runner Transportation
Marathon and Half Marathon runners must report to the start at Pocono Mountain West High School on Panther Lane, Pocono Summit, PA. All vehicular traffic must enter the school from Route 940 (at GPS coord 41.114238, -75.419353). Access to Panther Lane from Sullivan Trail will be closed. Volunteers will direct you to parking once you are on campus. Runners must be dropped off at the start, or park their own vehicle at the start. Runners who leave their cars at the start will be returned by shuttle bus when they finish the race. Because the race route runs past the front gate of the school, the front gate will close approximately 20 minutes after the start of the race and will remain closed until the last runner passes. Drivers who plan to leave after the race start should plan to pass through the gate before it closes or expect to wait.
Clothing Bags
Clothing bags are available to runners at the start of the Marathon/Half Marathon. They will be marked with the runner’s bib number and are transported to the finish of each race.
Weather
Average highs are in the mid 60’s with lows in the low 50’s.
