After careful consideration we’ve determined that the Pocono Mountains Run for the Red Marathon will not be held in 2022 and will be officially discontinued. This decision was not made lightly and was an incredibly difficult conclusion at which to arrive.

We considered every potential outcome, but with the challenges presented by the pandemic, the time required to successfully host this event, and the direction of our organization, this was the right choice for all involved.

We want to thank our dedicated volunteers, runners, and all sponsors for your endless support of the Run for the Red and of the American Red Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to have been a part of the magic that was the Run for the Red.

The Run for the Red planning committee and the American Red Cross have decided to cancel the 2021 Run for the Red events. Registration for the races would be under a massive cloud of uncertainty about the ability to hold an event of this size in May.

While this is the right decision in the face of a continuing pandemic, it makes us sad to think of another year without a marathon in the Pocono Mountains. We will be missing all of our runners and volunteers until we can come together again.
